Help! Sim 3 game loads to 99%
@Booyah64 Your currentgame folder should always be empty when you're not actually playing; the fact that it has files in it means that the game didn't quit properly. So clear that folder, and delete the five cache files in your game folder as well. (These should be deleted regularly, and many of us do so after every game session.) For reference, they are:
- CASPartCache.package
- compositorCache.package
- scriptCache.package
- simCompositorCache.package
- socialCache.package
Then try loading your game again. If one save doesn't load, clear the cache files again (and currentgame, if there happens to be anything in it) and try another save. You can also try loading the backup of the save you were playing. In your Saves folder, there will be a folder with the same name as your save but with a .backup extension (i.e. SunsetValley.sims3 and SunsetValley.sims3.backup). Remove the .backup and rename the save (SunsetValley1.sims3), and it will be available to load at the Main Menu.
It's possible that just the one save is corrupted, but if none of them load, some other file in your game folder could be the issue. You can just drag the entire folder out of Documents and onto your desktop, and a clean folder will spawn when you launch the game again. If a new save loads and is playable, then you can move your existing saves into the new folder from the old one. Any save that won't load in a clean folder is probably corrupt beyone repair.
