How can I get Sweet Treats/Origin Installation Directory?

I just want to have a complete collection. I tried contacting Origin to talk about ways to legally buy the game but they didn't have any help besides try to find a new game with an unused key code so I can register it. The only new unused ones I can find are $40+ and I don't even have a CD drive. If I buy a used version I won't be able to register it to my account though, right?

I don't know if it is acceptable to talk about this, but since KP:ST isn't available to purchase anymore maybe it's ok? I've found the download files on an abandonware site, but the instructions are for the CD installation. I know my game files are in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 3" and the game folders are named things like EP02, SP05, etc.

KP:SP Installer wants to install to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 Katy Perry's Sweet Treats"

Should I point the installer to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 3\Katy Perry's Sweet Treats" ??

It's weird because the rest have technical names and not the written out name of the game. Is it possible to get it to work with the origin version of the game? Can anyone who has the game legally registered in Origin check their folder and tell me what it's named there/where it's installed?

  • @Mxyzzy  I can't help with downloads from other sites.  However, if you have an Origin-controlled install, all the packs you've installed also need to be registered in Origin, or they usually don't work.  Sometimes people can install an unregistered pack via disc, and Origin accepts it, but that's likely because the user also inputs the code that came with the disc.

If you did buy a sealed disc copy of KPST, you could simply register the code in Origin and download it from your game library, the same way you would if you'd bought it directly through Origin.  But a used copy would probably come with a used code, so you wouldn't be able to register it.
