Thank you so much! This made it super easy for me. I got tired of TS4 and really wanna start enjoying the aesthetic of TS3.
simmer_scc Right-click the empty space inside the Sims 3 folder (the one that has Saves, Library, etc.) and select New > Folder. Name it Mods (capital M, no extra characters). Inside Mods, create a folder called Packages (capital P, no extra characters). Download a Resource.cfg file, for example from here:

If it has the .zip extension instead, right-click and Extract. Put Resource.cfg inside Mods but NOT inside Packages. All the mods you download, and any custom content that comes in .package format, go into Packages. You don't need an Overrides folder unless a mod creator tells you to use it.
