OK so I had the exact same problem. And after many many many tries to figure it out I found a solution. What I did was I moved my household apart into two separate lots originally. So what I had was a roommate pair that I was trying to work on making a couple, so I move the guy out into a separate lot. Then I moved him into the dorms. An unoccupied dorm. That went smoothly. Then I return to my original lot with my original household and I worked on moving the women into the dorm. What I found was the only thing that works, as you move your into the dorm making sure you pick the dorm with the sim you want to move back with, so I wanted to move her back with the guy in the same dorm so pick the dorm that he was in. My computer or program or whatever is causing this freeze, froze. So I close down Sims and when I closed it down It gave me the option to save and exit, pick save and exit! Then you reload Sims and you click on the sim you just moved and it’s going to take you back to the original lot, but when you go there you’ll see you no longer occupies that house so then you go to the dorm and you’ll see them both in the dorm. When you click on the aim you just moved, for me it was the female, it’s gonna take you back to their last location which was your original house. But since your not living there any more you can travel or click the go home button and she’ll go to the dorm and you have two sim’s of the same household in the door.
