How much storage will you need to download the sims 3

Im getting a new laptop. How much storage would I need to download The Sims 3 and 9 expansion packs? I dont have any stuff packs. I was thinking of getting the Asus C423 14” Chromebook with 64GB of storage. Can anybody good with computers tell me if that is a good choice because i just had to return a laptop today because it didnt have enough storage for any of my expansion packs. Someone thats good with computers please get back to me asap!! Because i also would like to have enough storage for Cc and mods 🙂

  • @ciarasimsx  A Chromebook won't run Sims 3 at all, no matter how much storage it has.  Chromebooks run Chrome OS, and Sims 3 only runs in Windows and macOS.  Aside from that, Chromebooks generally have weak hardware that wouldn't support even moderately demanding games like Sims 3.

In terms of the storage you'd need, the Sims 3 base game plus 9 EPs would take up somewhere between 25 and 30 GB of storage, depending on which expansions you installed.  However, I wouldn't want to install the game on a drive smaller than 256 GB total.  Saves take up a lot of space, often over 1 GB each if your sims like to travel, and you'll always want to keep backup copies of any given save in case something goes wrong.  Sims 3 doesn't handle a large amount of custom content very well, but 10 GB or so is doable.  And of course you might want to take screenshots.  So the space the game is using can add up quickly.

If you'd like ideas for a new laptop, I can make some suggestions.  Just post your budget and country, as well as any other considerations that matter to you.  However, you're not going to find a new computer that would run Sims 3 well for anywhere near the price of the Chromebook.  If you're willing to spend more and/or buy a used laptop, you could probably get a good machine.  Let me know either way.

@ciarasimsx  256 GB is enough storage for Sims 3, but the other hardware—graphics card, processor, memory up to a point—matters more.  There are plenty of laptops with a 256 GB drive, or even larger, that would barely run the Sims 3 base game, and not well at all.  So it would be better if you linked the laptop(s) you're considering, and I can take a look.

Again though, the ones in the price range of the first latpop you mentioned wouldn't do a whole lot better.
