Okay you don't have to shutdown, but I would suggest you reboot your system by restart. As long as you're on XP with SP3 Microsoft still supports you. And as long as you've kept up-to-date with the Windows updates you should be good.

I want to make sure you OS recognized the .NET Framework has been installed and the only way to do that is to reboot your computer. You may or may not get a message stating you have new software installed. Then we will go from there.
