I split my household in Sims 3 University Life and I cannot find my Sim now! Please HELP?!

Hello, so i basically created a teen sim and she grew into an adult and she enrolled in university and finally graduated with a degree. Anyway, I tried to move her out through the phone and that option did not show up until I purchaed an additional property; afterwards I try moving her that way but the family move with her as well. There was no option to move her to another nieghbourhood as I did not have another neighbourhood and it didnt allow me to move her out of the house at all so I split the house hold on Town Edit  and it I can't find her anymore! I went back to the families house to try and invite her over but she did not show up at all. I checked the household section and its not there, it just had the family I created before I moved them in. I heard there was a bin, but I do not know where that is so forgive me for my lack of knowedge. I'm not the most techiniological person out there and I feel like moving was more straight forward when I used to be able to just do it on the phone! any help is greatly apreciated as I'm so confused and frustrated, I mean the sim just graduated!
