In Game Problem - Cannot make calls, or click in0use sim to make calls, change outfits, etc

I recently bought and installed the supernatural and the seasons expansions and I've been having this problem which resetting my sim, or restarting my computer has not been able to resolve. I cannot click on the sim in use to make a phone call or answer a call, to change their outfit. Every time I click on the sim, nothing happens. If I try to click on a house phone to throw a party, it says that there are no actions available.  Please tell me what I need to do to resolve this issue.
