installation code used?

My sister bought Sims 3 and installed it on an old computer that no longer works... I'm trying to install it onto a newer computer but it wont let me use the installation code because it was already used.

is there anyway for me to install it. or was this game just a waste of money? this installation code * is really stupid. my family just wants to play the game.

so is there anyway around this? is there another code I can use?
