Installed worlds not showing up in game...

First off, I bought sim points to buy a world... Which I got and was fine... however, I was still a little short of buying the world I wanted to download so I purchased 1000 pts + dragon valley.... Satisified and I clicked on "add to game" on both of my new purchases. Thus begins the install, launcher opens and I wait about 5 to 10 mintues for install... which is fine... worlds can be big....

However, I open the game and the drop down does NOT let me select my newly downloaded worlds! It says I need to buy again!

So I've tried "purchase" and the in game window pops up and says 'purchase gold!" and in smaller letter beneath, "You already own this, download" okay, so I click that and it takes me back to the launch window... which I've done a million times....

It still does not show up.

I orginially bought the sims points to download Sunlit Tides.

Couldn't quite afford so spent an extra $40 to purchase 1K more credits which also came with Dragon Valley.

Niether of them show up.

I have taken all my custom content and put it away in a different spot so if that were the problem, it wouldn't show up....

So, literally it's only the worlds showing up in the "downloads" part of my launcher and apparently the signs and decor and etc shows up in "Installed"

PLEASE HELP.

    try this first

The game still wants me to buy the world

Sometimes when you start the game you see a little money icon next to your world although you already bought and installed it. This is just the ingame store not recognizing properly that you have already bought it.

Scroll down further down the list to see if there's a second version that doesn't have the icon to start a new game with. You can also turn off the ingame shop in your options and then it should only appear once

    edit typo

  • Scroll down further to see if it's actually in the list twice or turn off the ingame store.

The ingame store sometimes doesn't recognize that you own something and offers it to you to buy.

EDIT: Too many people answering tonight, I'm off to bed. Keep up the good work Rum 🙂

I've tried the 'turn off ingame purchase" thing but it still doesn't show up... and I try to scroll... but there is no where else to scroll because all my worlds can fit without needing to scroll...

Try this from the Store FAQ

I installed my Store Content but it's not showing up in my game

Unfortunatly, the Launcher is a very unreliable tool. The more stuff you have, the greater the chance that files which have your stuff installed get messed up. If that starts happening to you. It's best ro reinstall all Store content, using this method:

    • Close your game and launcher
    • Go to documents\electronicarts\thesims3 and move the folder DCCache to your desktop (this is ALL your custom content, so if you have 3rd party content as well, you might wanna just move the *.ebc files as well as the missingdeps.idx)
    • If you have any worlds installed go to the installedWorlds folder and delete all Store worlds from there.
    • Go to the DCBackup folder and delete everything in there. You don't really need the stuff in here except for the ccmerged file but since you're reinstalling everything, it will be recreated.
    • Open the launcher and start reinstalling all store stuff in groups. Don't install all in one go. Start with the worlds, then lots, then sets and single items last.

When you're done, backup the DCCache folder. If the same starts happening again, go back to that backup so you don't need to start over. Make a backup from time to time, especially after you've installed worlds and lots.

Still didn't work.... But I did think of something that made might be the problem... Do I have to have a certain expansion pack[s] to run certain world[s]??

Because I don't have all the expansion packs...

I'm going to go look on the site to see what it says...

store worlds will work with just the sims 3 base game as store items are made to work with the base game except the auto noms pet feeding station pets expansion pack is needed for that one to work and off the top of my head worlds that come with EP's  moonlight falls comes with supernaturals starlight shores with showtime and appaloosa plains comes with pets bridgeport comes with late night

Did you re-download the world ? Maybe the download got corrupted on transfer and won't install properly.

Also if you go to this folder: documents\electronicarts\thesims3\InstalledWorlds. Is the world there ?
