The same thing happened to me. I updated, played for a couple hours and then all of a sudden the game got extremely annoying. I experienced a freeze every 3 seconds. And this freeze lasted at least 5-8 seconds. It was so annoying.
I found this thread, followed the advice, (which was adding one of Twallan's mods which was NRaas ErrorTrap v31), and adding that mod fixed the problem. I added a couple mores mods as well. So if I were you, I'd definitely look into the advice given in the first post of this thread. You might find it could help you too! :)
