Lots missing CC

Hi Folks,

So recently I decided to change most of the CC I have in my game, save from a few various objects and some furnished lots.
Now when I first installed the lots (with the launcher) the lots and all the content they came with showed up no problem.
When I've installed them this time the lot shows up, as in the actual building but none of the objects that were originally inside it.

I've checked and double checked that I've not accidentally done something funky when installing them and couldn't find anything.

Everything else I install with CC Magic but wouldn't have thought this would have any effect on installing lots.

If anyone can shed any light on what may have happened that would be greatly appreciated 🙂

Loz x

  • @LaurenMarie2612  How did you install the lot the first time, and how did you install it now?  Is the custom content that the lot has also managed by CC Magic, or is it installed the usual way?

  • @puzzlezaddict I installed it with the launcher. Whenever I need to change CC using CC Magic, I uninstall sims3packs with the launcher, do whatever I need to do with CC Magic and then re-install my launcher items.

@LaurenMarie2612  I honestly don't know enough about CC Magic to say whether it would interfere with content installed in other ways, or how to avoid it.  It sounds like you're installing in a way that should work.  However, one thing to note is that uninstalling content through the launcher doesn't remove it exactly: the uninstall process blocks the content, but the data is still there.  So you're adding some complications to the process, including the potential for corrupt files or duplicates.

Right now, in your position, I'd uninstall the lots again, then remove all the .dbc files (bundled store content) from DCCache.  The .ebc files are store content, so leave those alone.  Make sure the lots are gone from Library too, although the uninstall process should at least remove those files.  Then reinstall one lot and see whether the cc associated with it shows up.  Be sure to delete the five cache files in your Sims 3 folder as well; they should be deleted any time you add or remove content from that folder.  For reference:

    • CASPartCache.package
    • compositorCache.package
    • scriptCache.package
    • simCompositorCache.package
    • socialCache.package
  • Yeah anytime I change anything on CC Magic i always delete the Cache files and do a complete clean re-install. It’s long winded but it’s better safe than sorry, then I only ever install launcher stuff after I’ve done the CC Magic stuff.

So yesterday I downloaded a couple of furnished lots just to test my method and they all work completely fine. All their CC shows up in my game no problem. So perhaps for some reason the lots I had saved have just kind of given up? I’m not sure what’s happened to them but I think I’m just gonna abandon them, delete them and move on haha.

Thanks for responding and your help though, I appreciate it.
