[MAC] Sims 3 Into the Future Application Startup Failed

Whenever I try to play, I can never update my game with the latest patch. I have  the superpatcher but it won't update my game. Also, I receive a notification whenever I start up my game the Sims 3 Application failed.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled my game and it doesn't do me any good. Is there any solution?! Please help.

    Hi

If you are already at patch 1.66, you may not really need to update further. Patch 1.67 was a tiny patch, which just fixed one message in the Launcher screen, as far as I know. It may not be worth the effort. Having said that, if you really do want to patch then the superpatch should work - make sure you use the Mac version not the PC version and choose the right one for your region.

Regarding uninstalling and reinstalling, you mention you have already done this so I wonder whether you did so using the clean method? When you uninstall TS3 games on your Mac using the uninstaller, the game leaves behind stray files and isn't completely removed from your computer. These files may conflict with future installations. It is best to completely remove them. BluebellFlora's website provides a guide on how to do this:

    http://bluebellflora.com/the-sims-3-on-a-mac/how-to-do-a-clean-uninstall-and-reinstall-on-a-mac/

However since reinstalling takes so long, you might first want to try this quick method to test a freshly generated game folder. Follow the steps under "primary things to try first" in the main Mac help thread:

  • What's your operating system ?

What error are you getting on trying to patch

  • I own a Macbook Pro. Version 1.66.2.024001

Now whenever I try to update it it starts the game and just stays at a black screen. My computer found corrupted files in the game so I deleted them and it got me to this new error.

  • I really don't want to uninstall. I've trieed before. It is time consuming and it didn't work last time. However, if it's the only solution, I'll try it. Just curious, how does reinstalling help?

Thank you so much! I've never heard of that method. I didn't know if the update would fix the prob so that's why I asked. I'll try this. You've been more helpful than the EA employees :catfrustrated:

You are very welcome. I don't think that many EA employees have access to test things on Macs so in general we are best off helping each other. If you have any other problems you can always try the Mac section of thesims3.com for further help.

If this problem gets fixed it would be great if you could return and accept a solution so that other users know what to try.

    Good luck!
