11 years agoYou may have a corrupt installation of the base game from Origin, in which case you need to do a clean uninstall and try again using the instructions I posted earlier. Get the base game installed, patched up to date and make sure it works before adding any expansions.

I did that and I can play the sims 3 game with out the packs that came with the game. just once i try to download the packs that warning comes up. what can i do

The warning you see about the game being more up to date than expected can be ignored. The "unknown error" is more tricky.
When you open the game launcher, does the number in the lower left hand corner indicate that you are patched to level 1.67?
Also, how much RAM does your Mac have?
