[MAC] "Unknown Error Occurred"

Question

Hey, I'm on a MacBook Pro and I've been trying every which way to download The Sims onto my Mac from Origin (as a digital download).

The download and installation seems to work fine, until it tells me it's going to launch from an external client??? Then when I try and play The Sims, it comes up with "An unknown error occurred" and then just fails to work at all.

Is there anything I am doing wrong? I don't know what this "external client" is because I'm saving the download to my computer and not my harddrive.

Did you update to 1.63 ?
What's the exact error message you're getting ?

I can't update to any new patches as the launcher won't even open.

The error message pops up and says "The Sims 3. Unknown Error Occurred." There is no error number or anything.

I have tried completely removed anything "Sims" related and reinstalling but it's just not having it. There are no saved games or anything as I've never been able to play it on the Mac.

This is just the base game as well...I have EPs but wanted to patch the base game before downloading and installing them.
