[MAC] update 1.66.2 Sims 3 Island Paradise

I know that I just talked to someone on here. But it didn't do anything. On the 14 of January I downloaded the update 1.66.2 on my sims game. Now when I load it, it says that there is no disc please insert disc before continuing...only there is a disc. The person I spoke to took me to a link that was for patches, and was telling me I would have to take ALL my sims games off then redownload them!! There is no way I want to do that. What do I need to do now? I downloaded the superpatch already back in october! It says it won't let me redownload it and I needed to reinstall everything. This is theh second time this has happened with the new updates! Any one got any ideas?

    Don't reinstall.

    What's your operating system ? What's the exact error message you're getting ?

    Do you have all your games on disc ? Which is your latest EP ?

    The exact message is "Disc Authorization Faliure. No game disc found! Please insert the Sims 3 Island Paradise game disc before proceeding." 

    The newest expansion pack I have is Island Paradise. That's as far as I wanted to go since sims 4 is coming out. But with all these issues I have having I might not get sims 4.

    And I assume IP is the one you have in.

    Does the disc have any scratches ? I'll forward this to our mac helper for better help.

    My husband is a major techy. The disc is as clean as the day I bought it! No scratches or dings.

    Is anyone still helping me with my issue or have they given up? The disc I am using is the proper disc for the game.

    You mentioned that you recently downloaded patch 1.66, the brand new one. Did you get it through the Updates tab of the Launcher or did you download the manual patch file? At the bottom of the Launcher does the number confirm that you are now at that patch level?

    Do you have mods or custom content that might be incompatible with the new patch?

    Sometimes the disc authorisation error happens randomly. It is often just the disc having a mad moment and after a few tries it works. Either that or the disc is damaged as Crinrict suggested.

    If you cannot get it working you could consider uninstalling the disc version of IP and then downloading and installing the digital version from Origin. Then you will not need the disc any more.

    I downloaded the patch from the start up game menu. It said I had an update, so I updated. It said that it needed to add the patch, so I put in my personnal computer password and downloaded the patch. The cd is in perfect condition. I have tried playing it 11 times since I updated it. I would hat to reinstall the game I have saved games on it. And they took me a looong time to get where I am at! This issue isn't going anywhere.
