I recently got a external hard drive, and wanted to move Sims 3 and EPs to it,
is it just copy and paste the folder or do you have to do something different?
Also do I need to move origin to the external hard drive too?

This game CAN NOT be copied and paste. The game needs to be installed as there are registry entries and configuration files created during the install. The user data CAN NOT be moved because the game looks to the operating system for the location of these files. You can fool the operating system by using a symbolic link but this is would be for more advanced users.
