My current sims 3 game has now started crashing out of nowhere

Hi,

I've been playing this family for awhile now and have had no issues until now. I had a young adult return from college and as soon as he is back in sunset valley the game crashes. Every time I load that family now it crashes. I don't know if it's because I've been playing that family too long or what but it's no longer letting me play. Anything I can do? 

Details:

MacBook Air 2020 

I have the Sims 3, Generations, Island Paradise, Seasons, University Life, Late Night, World Adventures, Ambitions, Pets, Showtime, Supernatural

I have a bunch of Nraas mods and some CC too (cars, hair, clothing) 

But I've been playing fine with those until I got back from University. Not sure what to do, would love any advice!

    @classicacosta  Do you have NRaas ErrorTrap, Overwatch, and Register installed?  If not, please add them and let me know whether it helps.

    If the game crashes again, please add Traveler as well, if you're not already using it, and retry the travel transition from University.  Even if you saved over that file once, the backup should still be intact.  Go into Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 > Saves, and you'll see a folder for your save plus another with the same name and a .backup extension, for example SunsetValley.sims3 and SunsetValley.sims3.backup.  Rename this backup and delete the .backup extension (e.g. SunsetValley1.sims3), and that save will be available to load from the Main Menu

    @classicacosta  Does the game crash immediately after you load it, or do you have a few sim-minutes to try some interventions?

    Please also list the full specs of your Mac: everything under About This Mac including the operating system and except for the serial number.

    Hi @puzzlezaddict it pretty much crashes after I load it. I was able to save the game in sunset valley so it wouldn't take me to the university town every time I loaded it but it pretty much crashes as soon as I load it. I'm able to play other games though. 

    Thanks for the help! Here are my specs: 

    MacBook Air

    M1, 2020

    Chip Apple M1

    Memory 8 GB

    macOS 13.0.1 (22A400)

    macOS Ventura

    Hey @puzzlezaddict I was wondering if you could help with this if not it's fine. My game isn't crashing anymore but since I've added the mods you suggested it's been very laggy. I can't play for more than like 20secs straight without it lagging for like five minutes and then it's just a cycle. Any solution for this?

    @classicacosta  Try running a MasterController town reset: click on City Hall and select NRaas > MC > Town Options > Reset Everything.  The command can take a few minutes to run depending on the size of the save and the speed of your computer.  Once it's done, let the game clock run a few sim-minutes, then use "save as" to rename the save, quit, delete the five cache files in your user folder, and reload.  For reference, these are the cache files:

    • CASPartCache.package
    • compositorCache.package
    • scriptCache.package
    • simCompositorCache.package
    • socialCache.package

    In fact, delete them before reloading the game as well.  They should always be deleted when you're troubleshooting as well as when you add or remove content from the game.

    If this doesn't help and you're getting any scripterrors, especially if you get a scripterror during the MC reset, please let me know.  I'm not great at reading them, but you could take them to the NRaas site and ask for help.  When you're typing up a post there, you can drag and drop the files themselves (not the text, the entire files) to the reply window, and they'll upload with the correct format.  If the errors are just correction logs, that's nothing to worry about; you can disregard those.

    The scripterrors would be in the same Sims 3 folder that contains your mods, saves, and all other user content.
