My Sim 3 Supernatural game won't exit after I finish playing.

Having a problem exiting my Sims 3 Supernatural game when I'm finished playing.  Every time I click save and exit.  My screen goes black, and nothing happens.  My mouse pointer turns into a broken circle, and it just keepis going around and around.  I've even tried the close it via the task manager, but nothing happens.  I finally end up just turning my laptop off manually.  Does anyone know why this is happening?
