Okay, I am very hopeful to have this issue resolved 🙂

@hailighrenee There does seem to be something strange going on there, but I think it is an Origin issue. Could you please try the steps in the order below:
- Uninstall the EP's you have issues with (go to 'View Game Details' by right clicking the Sims 3 base game tile and the right click the EP tile in Origin client and select 'Uninstall')
- Manually uninstall Origin
- Run CCleaner
- Restart your router/modem and do a Clean Boot
- Make sure that your UAC is enabled and set to notify
- Download the latest version of Origin and install the client - make sure to run the setup file with Admin rights
- Add firewall/antivirus exceptions for Origin and open the needed ports
- When starting Origin, please make sure to run it as Administrator
After this try installing the EP's again and check if they show up!

I have been experiencing the same issues as others beforehand and I am currently following the instructions you have posted, I will provide an edit once the fresh install finishes and a simple 'check-and-see' is conducted.
EDIT: The fresh installation of The Sims 3 Ambitions has just finished and also checked a 'check-and-see' and according to the launcher it still doesn't show up. The only thing I had running was the origin launcher to install the game faster. Sadly it didn't work.

Have you tried all the suggestions in this thread ?
every single instruction, remove the EP that gave me a problem, uninstalling origin, fresh install of it as admin, then did a reinstall of ambitions and still nothing, it's like origin doesn't want me to have sims 3 ambitions installed.

@ArkemosBloodmaw Could you please run Origin Error Report and post the ID here?
Origin Error Report ID: 099e468670009a56
I really hope this gets resolved, I miss being a Firefighter.
- Anonymous10 years ago
@ArkemosBloodmaw Thanks for that! I just wanted to confirm, did you also try doing a Clean Boot?
In either case, I shall be looking into this and I hope to get back to you as soon as possible!
Yes, yes I did. Sometimes I wish I could use the origin version of the sims 3 and just do a physical install of ambitions and play the game that way but according to the sims site, that's unable to happen.
EDIT: and it seems that after all that it still doesn't wanna install the expansion, this is starting to get slightly annoying.
EDIT 2: ok, so I did a full uninstall of sims 3 and everything I had with it to run a test to see if the sims 3 ambitions expansion pack on mine was corrupted, all I did was install sims 3 then ambitions and it wont show. Just thought to let ya know.

@EA_Kristi Have you found out what is going on or are we still in the dark on this matter, cause I have tried just about everything that I could think of.
- crinrict10 years agoHero+
Sorry, just for recap since it's been awhile
- Do you have the disc or download version of the base game ?
- Do you have the disc or download version of ambitions ?
- What's your base game version ?
Seeing as I don't like to answer things out of order for it tends to confuse some people..(like me for example)
1. I have the base game as a disc originally but it got added to my origin library after one of the newer expansions was released.
2. I do have the disc version of Ambitions (along with every other expansion and 2 stuff, and one from origin) and ambitions was working before origin kept saying that the sims 3 needed to update and decided to remove everything. Basically forcing me to reinstall everything, which was when the problems started to arise.
3. By base game I assume you mean the current version? I believe it's version 1.69.43.024017, if the base version is needed with no expansions or stuff packs I would have to install the game on a different computer to provide the correct answer.
- crinrict10 years agoHero+
With 1.69 you need to install the download version of ambitions as they are saved to a different path.
This is something I still need to verify but disc and download version now install to a different path which might confuse the game.
Have you tried repairing the game through Origin yet ?
Ten times to be truthful, I tried to repair it ten times on origin and it still doesn't want to show up no matter what I try, as for doing a manual installation of sims 3 ambitions, I tried to install it into the origin folder, which worked for a moment until Origin said that the version was out of date and removed it, and after doing an uninstallation of it on origin and reinstallation as well, I always check on the 'Expansions & Stuff' tab and arrange it by title, which seems to put them in alphabetical order and it still doesn't show up as activate or anything., I will also provide a screenshot or two of what I currently see on my origin panel and on my launcher of the sims 3.
EDIT: I just noticed that the second screenshot was showing my favorite song by tombstone XD
- crinrict10 years agoHero+
Did you check in which folder the EP is installed yet ?
Should be in programs(86x)\Origin_games\thesims3\EP02
- 10 years ago
Just checked a moment ago and it says it's installed, along with every other EP, I literally have no idea what's going on.
I've got the exact same problem aswell.
World Adventures and Ambitions are not showing up in the game launcher. They are regarded as installed in Origin and the files show up inside of the installation directory.
Tried literally everything in this thread with the exception of reporting it through Origin Error Reporter. I had to reinstall the game due to factory reset, discovered that the game refused to launch the expansion packs, searched around a bit and found this thread.
Perhaps it's worth noting that I have physical copies of about half of my expansion packs, which includes those two EPs. I registered them all on Origin not too long ago I believe, but here's an interesting twist to it: my computer won't read neither of those two discs, while all the others work fine. - crinrict10 years agoHero+
I literally also don't know what's going on.
Could both post this file: LoadOption.ini (attach it to your post, if you can't upload ini files, change the extension to txt before uploading.
I have all discs too and don't have an issue.
Maybe also try moving that file to the desktop and let the game create a new one.
Also it would be good if you all ran a new OER and post the ID again.
Here's a newly generated file, all expansion packs selected (except for WA and Ambitions, obviously).
As for the OER, I'm a little bit confused regarding whether it's some kind of region/country-based system or globally available. I can't seem to find any information about it, but I'm gonna assume it's more like the latter. - crinrict10 years agoHero+
Here's instructions for that: https://help.ea.com/en/article/how-to-use-origin-error-reporting/
- Anonymous10 years ago
@ArkemosBloodmaw and @Javlafaith Just to double check when you ran the repair, did you do so just for the EP or the whole game? To run the repair for the whole game, you need to do so from the main 'My Games' page in Origin, to repair individual EP's you can do so from the Sims 3 Game Details page? If you ran the repair on just the missing EP, try repairing the entire game.
Also could you both post a recent Origin Error Report ID?
Oh right, almost forgot about the OER, oops. 09dc70d970014e78
Also, what I meant was more like, uh, if the report would be, in lack of better explanation, "assigned" based on your country or something like that. Eh.
I've tried repairing both the base game and the EPs, even repairing the base game itself first before downloading and installing the EPs.Edit: I just remembered that I had The Sims 3 along with four expansion packs installed on another computer. I checked up on it and surely, the World Adventures and Ambitions EPs were installed, along with Late Night and Supernatural. The game was not up to date, and not installed via Origin.
I tried feeding that computer the WA disc, and voila, the computer read the disc perfectly fine. I didn't actually try the Ambitions disc, but I assume it would be the same with it. I proceeded to uninstall the game, which was kind of a hassle as it refused to uninstall for some odd reason, so I had to do it manually.
I checked this computer again, but it won't read the discs nor did the EPs show up in the Sims launcher. I'm redownloading and reinstalling them at the moment to see if there's any change. Why would the World Adventure and Ambitions discs fail to read on this computer, but not on the other one? And why those two specifically, and not Late Night and Supernatural, too? This is really strange, it's like the computer -banned- the games.
Edit 2: Holycow I the computer actually reads the Ambitions disc! Unfortunately no World Adventures, nor did either of them show up in the launcher after reinstalling, but I'll give the disc installation a try now to see if it works.
*le huk* It's installed and working! I have no idea how or why, but yeah... I still can't seem to get World Adventures to work though. Hmm.
Whoa. Okay so after looking in the registry editor for a while, I came across several World Adventure registry keys:
Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->SOFTWARE, I found keys in Origin Games (sims3_ep01_dd), Sims.BK (The Sims 3 World Adventures) and another one in Wow6432Node->Sims.BK->The Sims 3->DLCs.
This was all after uninstalling it through Origin.
After deleting them all, my World Adventure disc started working. I am now able to install it through the disc, and I will check if it works through Origin aswell afterwards.Unfortunately, installing them through Origin still causes the issue with them not showing up in the launcher. However, the discs now works for installing the EPs. Weird stuff going on here.

Can't entirely find my LoadOption.ini in any folder after extensive digging so I cant entirely post it on my behalf and as for repairing, I tried to repair only the expansion first and im right now in the process of repairing the entirety of my sims 3 collection to check and see if I have any errors, if I do, I will post them on this post with an edit.
EDIT: Finally finished with the repair on the entire game, and nothing new has changed. Ambitions still refuses to show in the launcher.
First off, I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place, but this is the only post on the internet I have found of someone else having the same problem as me, albeit I am having the issue with World Adventures and Late Night, annoyingly, World Adventures being the main reason I reinstalled Sims 3 to begin with.
So far I have tried:
Uninstalling all Expansions and reinstalling.Reinstalling the Entire Sims 3 collection.
Uninstalling the entire Sims 3 collection, Uninstalling Origin, Running CCleaner and fixing all issues with the Registry, rebooting, Reinstalling Origin and Reinstalling Sims 3.
Copying over the package files from within C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 3\EP01\GameData\Shared\Packages to the Mod directory to attempt to force it to read the package file data.
Repairing each Expansion Pack
Repairing the Entire game
uninstalling specific expansions, running the game then reinstalling the problem expansions.
I even bought the final 3 stuff packs I needed to see if adding additional game files would refresh the registry.
Attempting to launch the game with and without mods and CC
So far I have had no luck whatsoever.
The Origin Error Report Code is 09e1794070015bb1
I really hope someone can figure out how to fix this.. Sims 3 is my ultimate time killer.
