Double check your code has 20 characters. I don't know why it wouldn't as it's a digital copy you have, but I had at code once (printed on a manual though) I had ro contact support for because it only had 16. I had to take a photograph of EVERYTHING to prove I owned whatever game it was.
Another thing; if this isn't an issue (I doubt it is). is the website telling you a reason it's invalid? I was thinking that if it thought it was already used on another account or something it would say so.
- The code is definitely 20 characters long. It doesn't give a reason as to why it isn't valid besides this code has already been used.

i'd definitely contact EA support. If it's telling you the code has already been used and you've downloaded it legit through Origin. You'll have to verify your purchase of the game to them (by providing proof of everything) in the hopes that they can give you a new serial code. For some reason it seems you might have been given a duplicate code.

if you registered the code in Origin first it auto regs on the Sims 3 site you use the same email and password if you use different ones you can run into that issues
