Origin/the sims 3 Error 12/13

I tried with the newer version than manualy uninstalled both the base game and origin. EA did this with me on the phone to make sure we got all files out. Reinstalled the old version and origin which is what I have in my computer right now and still cant bypass the launcher. The errors I posted from DXDiag I get from both new and old version of base game.

Those errors I posted have to do with Origin and Orgin is probably what is causing the TSW3 file error too. Will have to wait and see what EA has to say.

So Origin opens when you try to bypass the launcher or do you get some kind of error message ?

Do you have both versions on the same account ?

I don't know what those error are so sorry but I don't know what to make of them.

Origin opens and I can get in the game through the launcher but I must be logged into origin to play the game through origin and the launcher. Origin has attached itsself to the TS3W file as admin and will not let me switch me/my computer to run sims as admin. If you left click on the TS3W file Origin loads and asks me to log in. While on the pone with Ea we even tried Ts3 folder, the launcher folder and nothing. Game will not load unless logged into origin. 

yes I have both versions on the same account and I can download either one of them no problem. They are each a sligtly diffrent version. The newer version asks me if I want to run the sims 3 at startup and the old version does not.

Wonder if that has anything to do with it.

Which serial did you use ? The one from the old or the one from the new version ?

With origin you usually dont have to give a code. Once it is activated you can just go into origin downlad and uninstall whatever you like. I installed all my ep's with no code. The only EP that just recently asked me to renter my code was IP

EA gave my problem to their higher up tecs and will be calling me back  within the next 48 hours. I still have an open case with EA.  Ill post again with an update after I speak to EA again.

It did ask me for the code but I deleted some extra keys in the registery that had them so that might be why.

So I wonder if it has to do with the code. Maybe the old version was using the code from the new one and the game didn't know it was the old version. Really don't know how it all works with those keys.

I don't know but in my case I really don't think it has anything to do with the base game on my issue.  I got a new computer in Aug 2013. Started a whole new sims game on this new computer in Aug and had the version of origin from Aug that just kept updating. I had this same game running from Aug until last week. This was before the whole windows 8.1 and my system restore back to windows 8. That game I had running until last week I had no problem bypassing the launcher and origin to play. I never had these origin/TS3w errors in my DxDiag. These errors are all new on the new install.

And off topic but I saw your thred on the messed up family tree issue missing babies. I have a solution for some of those do you have an ongoing thread for that issue?

I tried something on my computer and it seems that the old/new version is not code related once you have it on your account so that's not it.

Did you hear back from EA ?

Not yet but I added to my report. I found other people in here with same problems and we forund more problems so I called EA to add to my report. They told me they are working on it

This seems to be happening to people who do a new install and add a new version of Origin. Where origin has taken over as admin for the TS3W file and the launcher. I also can not download or upload. I found Others having this problem in this forum too. For me I have to log into origin just to get the launcher to play the game. I logged into origin to try and download a piece of clothing from the store and my launcher wont open and I cant download anything. The new origin is messed up. People are complaining having problems with the 1.67 patch. Im wondering if the 1.67 patch is confliting with origin update?? Whatever it is I hope EA fixes it soon since Some of us can't play our game. I havent even played my game on my clean install and all I have installed is the base game and origin. Those errors I posted from my DxDiag. I got those errors just from entering the game. 

Also we have a few people in here that could play the game but after the new patch 1.67 they can't. One I helped the other day had below the minimum requirements to play the game to begin with. The other I helped had the minimum but his video card not support and intergraded and I think the patch did this person in too.  You may be seeing a lot of these probelms but the new patch did something

Just can't get myself to believe in another patch for the game.

Also, why don't you just uninstall the game and install the original disc version. You don't need Origin for that.

I know the patches/origin messing everything up. I hope they don't do this with Sims 4. We need to be able to play off line without Origin and the launcher using up our ram. All the notices I get from norton High disc usage on both Origin and the Launcher. I go to downlad something at the EA store. Norton tells me the launcher is high disc usage. The Launcer and Origin add more problems to this game especially on saves. If Origin and the launcher are running while playing its taking up all the ram when you try to save a larger save.

With my old discs ( I only have up to fast lane) I gave them to my neighbors son because he likes disc. I can't take them back from him so that is not an option at this point.

You know the usual, Blame the customer. Blame Wndows, Blame Norton. They are insisting it has to be Norton or my windows security. I have Norton 360. Norton has never blocked origin or launcher updates since I have had this computer Aug 13. Neither has windows. As I said before My old game I started in 2013 never had these problems. They were checking my account and saw I played recently. I let them know I have played nothing on a clean install other than testing the game. They told me to uninstall and reinstall everything which I have done several times. Including uninstalling and reinstalling Norton which norton took over the control of my computer and did it for me more than once in the past week. I know it's origin or the new patch. Maybe both. My launcher got messed up on my old game from the new patch. On a clean install checking both new and old versions of the base game the launcher is messed up on both with 1.67 patch same as it was on my old game. I let them know Origin will only let me get to the launcher to enter the game if I am logged int Origin. I can not download anything from the EA store the launcher wont open at all. This is where I am at right now. Cant wait to see what other issues they will try to blame on the customer.

I saw a new post you were helping that claims the new origin messed up their computer Are they haveing my same issue since their launcher is not working.

I stopped playing this game n 2010 because of all the glitches and EA blaming the customer this is not supported, that is not supported. All the gliches in the game are the customers fault. I figured with my new computer and 3 years have passed EA woud have fixed the game but NO. Things have not changed. They mess up and blame the customer. Im almost at the point in wanting to delete my origin account and be done with EA for good.

So to be clear, does the launcher not open or does it crash after opeing ? Does Origin open ?

New install no game save no need to clean files. I can only get the launcher through logging into Origin. I can get in the game no crashing but Origin is blocking the launcher from opening so I cant uploading or download anything from the EA store. The Launcher wont open outside of the origin web. Origin will only permit me to download the base game and eps. I still cant bypass the launcher or origin to get in the game. Click on the ts3w file and the origin log in opens. Origin is acting as admin for the game and launcher even though my computer and origin properties state my computer is admin. I cant change TS3w file to accept my computer as admin for the game. It's a mess

Does the launcher start through Origin at all ? Can you play the game if you go through Origin ?

I do get that you have a problem that you can no longer byPass Origin even with the old version and I do not know what's up with that but the question is, can you play going through Origin or does the launcher never start ?

Does it say play or install in your myGames ?

The Launcher starts after I log into origin. Have no problem intsallig the base game, EP's and getting in the game and yes I can play the game if I wanted to. I have been  running tests but I have not actually played because I need to download my worlds and items from the store and I cant. The launcer will only open in origin and not outside origin. Is this making more sense?

It is as if either Origin or the new patch has caused some conflict with the TS3w File , or origin and the patch are conflicting with eachother. This shows up in my DxDiag on a clean install without saving or anything. Im afraid to play since the launcher is messed up and I can't upload or download anything other than the actual game.

All the people I have spoken to who have this problem seem to be doing clean installs and may not be effecting people who have had origin in the computer for a while. My son has an older version of origin and he can bypass the launcer. I may just copy his whole file to my computer and see if that works. I also wondered if I remove origin and go back to an eirlier patch where my game did work will that fix the problem.

If I delete origin and add an earlier patch will it overwrite the 1.67 patch?

Add: Just checked the origin forum and people posting same problem as me. New update messed up!

If you have the launcher and Origin open, what error are you getting when you try to download.

Everyone that has the new version needs Origin and they can still download fine, so what error are you getting when on the launcher and trying to downlaod Store Content ?

I get no errors. The only errors I get is in my DxDiag that the TS3w file and Origin errors. Its been manually unintsalled and reinstalled no change.

The launcer will not open at all when I try to download anything from the store. No error. It just wont work

and Caspin did not really answer my quesiton because Origin will not let me manually patch my game. Origin is automatically programed to give me the latest patch. I want to know if I remove origin will I then be able to patch my game and have it overwrite the patch that is there now

Error 12 seems to be a memory problem. It is not how much physical memory but how the computer uses the memory. There has been a problem with the Microsoft operating system since its introduction. When a computer boots the operating system reserves areas of memory for buffers, stacks, temp files, and many other house keeping chores. Many of these areas are not dynamic and are finite in size. You can have all the memory in the world but if your stack overflows your application can (usually does) crash. This is called running out of system resources not phsical memory. You have to start at the beginning. TS3 is a 32 bit application and as such CAN NOT address more then 4gb of physical memory. 32 bit TS3 runs on 64 bit Windows under WOW64 (an interface layer of software). After the 4gb of lower memory is allocated the operating system will move parts of physical memory and write it out to vitual memory (hard drive space) and swap blocks of memory in and out as needed. This is a very simple explaination and I can write a book about this (I'm sure you can find a book about Microsoft memory management). Windows 8.1 is the latest iteration of the operating system. You are warned upgrading from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 could (probably) cause problems with applications. It does reset/reinstall the video driver as I had to correct video issues on my ASUS eee pc because of an unusual resolution the computer uses. Origin installs the game by default in a different place then the disc version. I'm guessing when you say the manual patch does not work is that the patch can't find the game due to registry problems. The only way to by pass the launcher and Origin is to have the old disc version. The download version needs to be activated online (SecuROM) the first time the game/pack is played and nobody seems to know if it reactivates from time to time (idk). I have run TS3 on at least 3 different computers and I can say I have never had an error 12. The fact you have much hard drive activity may not be TS3 (or the launcher or Origin). Windows 8 (and Windows 8.1) has a weird windows update that seems to take over the computer when it's trying to download an update. This could appear to give high hard drive activity. I like to maunually install my updates and then I know what my computer is doing (but Windows 8 thinks different). Another annoying thing is Windows Malicious Software Removal tool that downloads and runs in the background and then uninstalls itself when complete (It's like a software bug that disappears). I have seen several users have problems with TS3 running out of virtual memory (I feel Windows does a poor job of managing virtual memory - my opinion). I do know many game problems are resolved after hardware problems are optimized. I do not know the your computer's hardware configuration or operating system configuration. If TS3 will not run on  a clean Windows 8.1 install there is a problem. A simple question is did you turn on .net framework in Windows 8 features? The launcher will not run without .net framework and it is turned off by default.

You should have read the whole thread, Error 12 is a seperate issue from my origin problem sort of. I was getting Error 12  when I had a save going for a while with Origin and the launcher running hogging up all my ram. I was bypassing the launcher after that no issues but then the windows 8 to 8.1 messed the whole computer. Did a full system restore  I am now back to windows 8 with a clean install of the sims.

This is not true about the old disc version because on my old game that was running as of 2 weeks ago was all downloaded back in august 2013 and I could bypass the launcher and origin.

I need to bypass tthe launcher and origin so I can save my games with no issue but on clean installs whith the new origin origin has taken over as admin of the game. Windows on my computer has never stopped or interfeard with my downloads of the sims. Neither has norton.

On my old game that was working NORTON would always tell me Origin is high disk usage. If I used the launcher (which I cant use now) Norton would tell me high disc usage Launcher. It always gives me specifics on what is causing high disc usage.

Everyone replying seems to be missing the point of what I am dealing with.

MY DxDiag states Origin and the TS3W is the problem. This again is on a clean install with a game that I have not even played.

Who is Caspin?

The launcher patches the game (not Origin). Origin is a stand alone program that evolved from the EA Downloader. The game uses parts of IE and Origin to provide communications and they don't have to be running. I do know if Origin and the game are not patched to the latest version there may be communication problems. You say when you try to down load a patch that the launcher does not open - that means there is a problem with the launcher. That could be cause by .net framework or a problem with the user data.

Origin has a hold of my launcher. I can not open my launcer beacuse of Origin. I have to delete Origin. The new version of Origin is what updates the patch.

My son has an old game in his computer I left click on his TS3 W file this morning and origin took it over to update, Origin is attached to teh TS3w file an the launcher. Welcome to the new version of origin. I am so mad!!!

The patch is fine as in it installed properly in my game but many are reporting new problems in their game since the new 1.67 patch. The patch and orgin update maybe conflicting with each other
