The sliders were completely missing, but he had a mod that has conflicting sliders and since the new patch adds to that feature, supposedly, it would make sense that that was why he was having issues. He hasn't come back to the forums since I helped him, so it was likely his mod that was causing those problems.
As for the collections folder, I told her that she ought to take another look and make sure she looked in the right place. Luckily, another player had his collections folders working and he told her where to find them. I think it may have been a problem of just knowing where the folders were in game.
