see this blog here that will tell you how to hopefully find your missing saves/sims http://sims3.crinrict.com/en/2011/09/error-saves-are-gone-options-are-reset.html depending on which world you were playing in just start a new game in the+new game if it was say sunset valley then the goths CyCL0nE madison van watson, gobias koffiee , the bunch family et all will be loaded up http://sims3.crinrict.com/en/2013/12/family-cant-be-selected.html

did you clear the cache files after getting rid of the CC
delete the cach files go to electronic arts/the sims 3/
•CasPartCache.package
•compositorCache.package
•scriptCache.package
•simCompositorCache.package
•socialCache.package.package
it's safe to delete these files as a new ones will regenerate
