I had this simular problem, traveled there, it was odd the person my Sim was dating vanished from here list of known's. When she traveled back to the present, her created bot was was greeving for a lost sim that they witnessed dying. My sim did not appear back, however it showed her as being in the Future still. When I reboot and start the game over, this repeatedly happens, no other outcomes. When I was back in the present, I did notice the other house where the "going steady" sim lived, no longer appeared either. I tried to save my sim in the Future as a pre-made sim, going back into the main menu to see if I can find them there, no such luck :-( I saved before I went into the future, than saved once again (because it was a safe travel) when she was about to travel back, so there she is stuck.

I have had this same problem as well and have tried clearing catches and using new families. I can travel to the future but when i try to return the sims become uncontolable and the emotion meter turns light blue and all family member icons are gone. the game does show the activity that your returning sim is on wich is stuck on arriving if you go to edit town the house now shows empty but the sims are still there. also if you use the moveobjects on cheat and click on the sims they no longer have there names but are simply called sim and have a black sphere icon. I would also like to note that if you fastforward the game long enough to have wishes load up the returning sim still receaves oasis based wishes such as vistit the bot shop.
