@puzzlezaddict Hii! Firstly, I'm not sure what you mean by create a new save because my main issue is that, with the old cache files in place, I have no activate game. Do you mean to create a new random sim family and then try saving? Secondly, I have all my hair, clothes and makeup cc merged, so thankfully I don't have to worry about those. It seems that the only cc in my dccache file was furniture because when I load the game without the files it says "Some items are missing" and it replaces all my cc furniture with regular furniture. When I do have the files in places and they load in the launcher, it's only furniture that comes up. I mention this because all I ever had in my downloads folder was hair, makeup and clothes, I did have a couple lots so I am wondering if that's where the furniture came from. I rarely ever downloaded single furniture, but new stuff would always pop up and I just assumed maybe it was hidden within the other stuff I downloaded. Anyways, my point is that the cc I'm missing is not in my old downloads folder, that's only hair, makeup and clothes. Do you think the lots may have something to do with it?
@BandsAndRoses Yes, I meant click New Game at the Main Menu, pick a random household so you don't need to use CAS, let the game clock run for a few minutes, save your progress, quit, restart your computer, launch Sims 3 again, and see whether that save shows up. If it does, there's something about the old saves that isn't working with the files from DCCache. If the new save does NOT load, that suggests looking elsewhere.
A lot (or world, or even household) could definitely come with other custom content attached, including furniture. So you could presumably get the furniture back by reinstalling those lots. The lots would still show up in-game even after you deleted the contents of DCCache because installing them creates corresponding files in Library. (In fact, for a lot with no cc, you could just save the created Library file and move it to a new Sims 3 folder, and the lot would work as normal without needing to be reinstalled through the launcher. This also applies to households.)
Do you have those lots? If so, you could reinstall them into your existing folder. Or, if you don't want duplicate items in your in-game bin, install them into a new Sims 3 folder and move over the DCCache files but not the Library entries.
