My computer is a PC, I use origin, and the game is completely up to date. I've played the sims for many years, and it has never had a single issue up until now.
@CLCPixel When you uninstalled the entire game, did you also get rid of your TS3 game folder in Documents? Something in that folder could be corrupted. You can drag the entire folder out of Documents and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game again, a clean folder will spawn with no content. Try moving one of the premade families in the bin into a new house, and play with them for a bit. If that works, quit, reload, and start a new game. Create a couple of sims and try to move them into town. If this works too, the problem was likely in your old game folder.
If this doesn't help, or you've already started with a clean folder that never contained any mods or cc, then please run a dxdiag on your computer and attach the results here (use the "browse" button).
