@jenjer2010  If you click on the floor of the kitchen and select Go Here, are the sims able to walk into the kitchen?  Can you tell them to perform other actions, e.g. get a quick meal out of the fridge or tinker with or upgrade the stove?  If the sims can enter the kitchen but can't use the appliances, try moving the fridge and stove elsewhere.  If they can't enter the kitchen at all, look for objects that might be blocking them, and if you don't find any, replace the door.
