Re: having trouble installing items bought on online store in sim 3
@hexlilithia I've moved your post to the Sims 3 PC tech section.
If the items aren't installing, it's either a problem with the downloads or with your game folder. Please clear out everything in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Downloads (where your store downloads land) and try again. If that doesn't help, delete everything in Downloads again and try a different browser. Firefox is more reliable than Safari or Chrome.
If that doesn't help, please remove your entire Sims 3 folder from Documents\EA, and open the launcher to spawn a clean folder. Go into DCBackup inside the old folder, right-click on ccmerged.package and select Copy, then right-click inside DCBackup in your new game folder and select Paste. (If there's already a ccmerged there, delete it first.) Then try installing one of your new items. Start a new save to confirm it's there.
If this works, you can start adding your existing content to your new game folder. One thing to be careful about is the naming of the files in DCCache. In the new folder, you'll have a file called dcdb0.ebc (that's a zero) with your new store stuff. You'll need to rename it so that its number is one higher than the highest numbered .ebc file in your old game folder, then move those .ebc files over. You can ignore the numbering on the .dbc files for this purpose; those are installed custom content, not store stuff.
Here's a list of everything else in your game folder, including descriptions of what you'll want to keep:

After you've moved everything over, delete the five cache files in your TS3 game folder and test. For reference, those files are:
- CASPartCache.package
- compositorCache.package
- scriptCache.package
- simCompositorCache.package
- socialCache.package
If you have any questions, or any part of this process doesn't work, please feel free to ask.
