Re: Missing books
Did you also delete your cache files ?
Go to documents\ea\thesims3 and delete these files
CASPartCache.package
compositorCache.package
scriptCache.package
simCompositorCache.package
socialCache.package

Ok, deleted all that. Now going to try the game. Thanks for the info! I'll let you know if it worked.
Still no books and I notived that she wouldn't write anymore. But my game keeps crashing now so I can't even play that family and I don't want to start another one that has no books. I've got all the skills maxed on my saved family but can't load them now. This blows. Maybe it won't take long for a patch.
Try the factory reset described in this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-3/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps/td-p/714/
I did what you said. I can play my family again but still no books. I'm frustrated. I don't know what to do. I just hope a patch comes soon and it brings back my books. I've noticed my sims won't write books either. Very frustrating. Thanks for your help.
Does it also happen on new games or just an existing one ?
I have this problem too, it happen on new game and existing one , I really need help ! Thank you
@RahafDalloul Did you try the clean folder test as linked above by crinrict? Here's the link again:

If the clean folder works, it's possible that the old one is corrupt, or that you have an outdated mod or some bad cc that's blocking access to your books. It's always good to make sure that if you're adding any third-party content to your game, it's up to date and well-made, but there's never any guarantee that it will work as intended.
