"Does this happen when sims are playing a set, as a band can do?"
My sims are not in a band. This happens when sims "Start to Jam" and other sims "Join in on Jam". I do not have Showtime. But I do have Late Night installed.
@naniisundayo Right, I was wondering if you'd tested the band as well. Since I haven't seen other reports of this, I'm trying to figure out which performances are and are not affected.
I'll try it out with the sims as a band. I will also try having them perform in a venue. This happens while at home.
- @puzzlezaddict When the bands play, only one instrument is heard. No sound is played when performing at a venue.
@naniisundayo Alright, thanks for testing. You could try a different sound output device, for example built-in speakers vs. headphones connected via jack, but I'm not sure there's any fix for this. It seems like just another feature that didn't get translated properly for the 64-bit version.

Is EA going to fix this? paid for the expansion packs and now it’s kind of disappointing to see sims jamming without sound.
Then there’s the stupid microphone. Read somewhere it needs to be unlock? But getting music notes from guitar, drums etc etc…no clear instructions
@xpkoalz There hasn't been any kind of update to the 64-bit Mac version of Sims 3 in three years. So while EA hasn't announced that there will be no updates, it's extremely unlikely that anyone will fix this issue.
