Yes, I have. I've even tried deleting the building but is hasn't done anything. Resetting the sim didn't do anything either.
Also, I can't click on any Sims, and her icon doesn't show up in both the little square or above the Sim-time.

Does your saves folder on your documents, have a folder with the name of the game that you're currently playing but ending in .backup?

Yes it does, but I'm currently on tech support trying to get this problem resolved. If none of what tech support suggets should works, should I try replacing the current save with the backup save?

Yes. Replace the files of your current game on your saves folder with the ones in the folder with the exact same name as the game you're currently playing but ending in .backup
If they tell you to uninstall the game and install it again, try what I wrote first.

I'm so glad I tried that! Luckily I saved about 30 sim hours before the last save, so all I had to do was wait for graduation again and hope she didn't get stuck in the building. And she didn't! Thanks so much, and thanks to EA tech support for walking me through the problem as well.
