@pcsandstormvader This is a side effect of how EA and Steam decided to handle older games, and there's unfortunately no way to get a CD key from Steam. However, you can ask for help from EA customer support.

If you provide proof of purchase from Steam, an EA support rep may be able to add the game to your Origin library.
@LonelyOtaku78 That is incorrect; people have been asking for Sims 3 to be added to Origin for over a year now and (mostly) had success. I have the posts to prove it.
If you'd like, you can contact support again in the hopes that the next person you talk to is more helpful. Or you can try launching the game and looking for the code in the registry, as has been mentioned in this thread.

@MusaTeksoy Please launch Sims 3 at least once, then look in your computer's registry for the base game key. Use the instructions posted here:

@MusaTeksoy Just checking, but did you buy a standalone copy of Sims 3, or did you buy an EA Play subscription and download Sims 3 through that?
If you bought the game itself, you'll need to contact EA customer support (again, sorry) and ask that the game be added to your account. Support has been doing this for Sims 3 for over a year now, as long as the player provides proof of purchase and ownership. To that end, take screenshots of your email receipt and Steam library with Sims 3 showing, and upload them when you submit your next help request. Live chat is generally the best option.
If you don't get anywhere with support this time around, wait until U.S. business hours tomorrow and contact EA Help on Twitter.
I exactly did what you told me on my first try with the support. I uploaded pics of me buying that sims 3 and told them I need key and they said I have to go to the steam Support. Thank you thou đ If steam support cannot help I will try again as you say tomorrow.( Yeah I have standalone Sims 3 not subscription )

@sbella033 Launch the game once and look again. If you still don't see "ergc," please post a screenshot of what you do see.
Guys the key of base game+pets is visible at the "CD Key" section in the game library now. You don't need the ergc method anymore đ
@sbella033 Are you playing Sims 3 through Steam? If so, please check your Steam library for a base game CD key: others have reported that the keys are showing again.

@sbella033 This thread has nothing to do with Sims 2; it's for people who own Sims 3 in Steam. There's no way to register Sims 2 in Origin now, and that's been the case for over three years now. So if you don't already own the game in Origin, the only way to play is through your discs.
