Game Seemingly Incompatible with Mod the Sims Content?

I know the title is a little strange, but I'm honestly not sure how else to describe the issue. Whenever I put my mods folder in the Sims 3 folder, I get a black screen on launch that never progresses into the main menu and can only be closed with the task manager. My mods are organized by where they were downloaded from, so I was able to discern that something from Mod the Sims is the problem, since the game opens just fine with all the other mods whenever the mod the sims folder is removed. However, no matter how many mods I weed out, nothing seems to work except removing the content entirely. Has anyone else experienced a similar issue where you had trouble downloading from a specific website? I've used mod the sims in the past, so I'm not sure why this has become an issue this time around. It's very frustrating, and I'm wondering if there's something obvious that I'm missing?

Also, it might be helpful to know that I've installed all the Sims 3 Store content, and I've also made extensive use of the mods / cc dashboard tool. I have no corrupt files, and I've tried to eliminate all conflicts, but that doesn't seem to help.
