Re: sims 3 Service initialization failed (0x065d0274)

@annavanpatten  Are you playing the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Sims 3?  Did the game ever work on this computer?  And what version of macOS are you running?

@annavanpatten  Please try moving the Sims 3 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  This will remove (but not delete) your saves and other user data.  You can restore the content later, but the idea here is to test without it.  If the launcher opens, it will create a new folder with no content; let me know if you can get far enough to start a new save.

If that doesn't help, please run the Origin reset tool (under the spoiler):

and repair the game: open your game library, right-click the Sims 3 icon, and select Repair.

If you've already been migrated to the EA App, use the App Recovery tool instead: click Help in the menu bar at the top of the screen, then App Recovery.  Then repair, which is under Sims 3 > Manage.

Hi, I encounter the same problem on my 15.4 macOS system. Starting the game in Origin worked without any problems. After the forced migration to the EA app, the game wouldn't start at all - stating the same initialisation error. Letting the "Repair" option run multiple times also doesn't actually repair the game.
