I've downloaded the files that were supposedly needed, and it still won't get passed the launcher. I'm seriously getting upset because my new computer won't even run an old game.

I fixed it. I had to download some third party app to do so. EA should probably make their own patch so other people don't have to cry online about it.
Why isn't this a default thing?
