Re: Sims 3 won't open: Alder Lake (Intel 12th-gen) CPU

@EsmeRoseyt  You don't launch the .zip.  You extract the .zip: right-click it and select Extract Here.  Then you launch the AlderLakePatch.exe that was extracted: that's the patch.

@puzzlezaddict Hey thank you. Managed to get it to launch, however now my CC wont install. It says to run the script before which i'm doing but not working. Any ideas?

@EsmeRoseyt  If you've run the Alder Lake patch, and it worked, you don't need to continue to apply any workaround.  You'd only need to use the script or the Task Manager method when installing items through the launcher if you're also using that method to open the game itself.

If the script isn't working, try updating PowerShell, as described in the accepted solution on page one.  And restart your computer immediately before testing the launcher again.

If that doesn't help either, the Task Manager method is the most reliable approach, if the least convenient, so try that instead.

@LizzySkitty  Try manually installing DirectX 9, as described here:

You do still need the Alder Lake patch, although if it's been applied correctly (there wasn't an error in running it and you applied it to TS3.exe, without the W), you won't need to run it again.  It's a one-time fix.  The reason it hasn't helped is the game is blocked by the DX9 issue before it can get far enough to encounter the Alder Lake issue.
