Big thanks, that fixed the issue!
I deleted the files without the success. The only change I've made was to upgrade to Win 8.1 Pro. Any other suggestions?

Check if there are new drivers for your audio.

I had a similar sound issue, I was able to hear the basic sounds, however not the sounds made by the Sims "talking" or the sounds build in the UI when we click on some items, or in Buy and/or Build mode etc.
I deleted the cashe files as you said and it did fixed my problem, so thanks a lot

@RabbitPixey Please describe your issue in more detail, and run a dxdiag and attach it to a post as well.

Hey,
so I’ve done this and I have to constantly do this I’ve rand over again. Is that something that’s normal or is something else wrong? Everything is up to date.
i have this problem where I can hear the sounds for a little bit but as soon as I go to the world map and travel that’s when the sound goes out. Or when I have the game on pause for too long.
got any advice?
@laniibabez Please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

Please also let me know what sound device you're using. If possible, please test with a different device that uses a different type of connection, e.g. Bluetooth vs. USB vs. jack; you can also try the built-in speakers for your laptop or monitor.
Hello,
When I delete thoses files, the game recreate them when I launch it, how can I fix that ?
Thanks
@AlakAlcyone The cache files are supposed to be recreated when you launch Sims 3. The idea is not to remove them permanently but to force the game to generate fresh copies.
If you're having a particular issue with the game, please create your own thread. Since this thread is very old, I'll lock it here.
