Recent Digital download won't update to latest patch 1.67 (SOLVED)

Hi, 

The version istalled is I believe 1.42 so everytime I try to play the game it tells me there is an update available and asks if I want to download it, I say yes and an origin PatchProgress window open saying downloading http://www.thesims3.com/launcher/patches/447287726 (Paused) - this then just hangs with 0% downloaded whether the icon on the left is a play button or a pause button (as it isn't doing anything I can't figure out which it is supposed to be but I've tried both) - I've got a 60Mb connection so it's not just slow BB - anyway I tried to download the patch manually from the [FAQ] Current Patch - 1.67 - Manual links and more page, I chose the option for Region 17 digital game version but everytime I run it I get an error saying invalid file found. I'v even tried downloading an earlier patch but get the same result - please help, I've been unable to find a solution in the existing threads and I haven't even been able to play yet (I downloaded earlier today) ☹️

    In the end I went to this page and downloaded the super patch - I had tried to download a superpatch from here but I just kept getting a 403 error message.

    I'm not sure if it was just the super patch that resolved the issue or a combination of things so I'll tell you everything I ended up doing:

    1. I turned off my anti-virus (was still unable to install 1.67)

    2. I had found a patch version 1.50 and I was able to install this one (my version was 1.42) so this made me think perhaps I needed to upate incrementally manually

    3. I installed patch version 1.55 but still unable to install 1.67 so I went hunting for some more patches in between 1.55 and 1.67 that's when I found the page with the super patch

    4. I installed the super patch as advised on that page but then was unable to load the launcher

    5. Rebooted my PC and hey presto, although now when I click the Sims3 icon it loads Origin and from there I go to my Games and click Play on Sims3 🙂

    It's great that you were able to solve your issue.

    Do you know which of the solutions worked for you ? If so, it would be great to answer to this thread with the solution and accespt it as such so the next person knows what helped you.

    I'm not sure what else I can say in addition to the reasonably detailed information I gave in my previous post - have you tried the steps I followed?

    Thanks for those steps.

    Weird that one link gives you a 403 error and the other works. I've double checked my super patch link and it's exactly the same as on that Help page. Guess I don't need to understand this.

    In looking at the url for error I got on the first load, it's checking for login and giving the 403 for negative status.  So people need to login to follow the first link correctly to get the super patch.

    can you just comment the one link that you downladed? thank you. and also, how long did the download take? mine is saying it has 2 hours

    So, I see the last post to this was quite a while ago. I tried to click the link for the super patch and it gave me a 403. Also, I can log-in via the website, but the Sims 3 game launcher will not allow me to log-in. It's been several years since I've played actually, and I have no idea where to start to get back to normal with it.
