Same problem here, fresh install, no saved games, no custom content, just base game, paradise island and town life stuff.

Having same issue. I think its the patch but will have to run more tests tomorrow and update with a previous patch to make sure this could be the problem. Is the sims 3 the only game your having a problem with?
Yes, only the Sims 3 gives me problems, every other game runs smooth with everything maxed out.
