I had no serious problems that could not be fixed playing this game on Windows 8. Leaving out bugs and issues EA has not fixed. Its possible the ASUS on 8.1 does not work with the game. Some computers with 8.1 work on this game and some do not. This game was made on vista. Realize that they now need to make the game work on XP ( now gone) Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 and 8.1. Years ago we all had one OS. Much easier to make a game work for only one OS. Especially games made on XP. XP was so stable!
XP stable??????
The most unstable messed up OS ever, after Win98.
So EA sells full price games that cannot be played anymore on modern rigs.
THIS IS FRAUD

Never had a problem with XP and even all the microsoft tecs love XP. Your the first person I have encountered that had XP issues.
No the game right now is only supported by XP,Vista and windows 7. Says so on the web. They are working on trying to make it work for 8 and 8.1. People need to check the specs of the game before buying. I bought the game originally and played on windows 7. Now that I have windows 8 I am doing the best I can to make the game work but I can't blame EA for it since the game was not made for windows 8.

Ask a serious lawyer who is right in all these post.

Im not EA. EA is not in this forum. We are people who play the game and help others. Scream lawyer all you want but the bottom line is people need to read the fine print before they buy or download anything. You had to accept the terms and conditions before you downloaded. A true lawyer would know that

I appreciate you kind help, but seems you are getting me wrong.

Im sorry if I am getting you wrong. Look there maybe a lot of old games that wont play on a new rig. I do know from speaking to microsoft and EA on my own computer issues that they are working together side by side to try and make the Sims work on windows 8/8.1. The game was not designed to work on newer OS but they are trying to make it work. Windows 8/8.1 has a lot more security built in and it does casue problems with the sims if you don't shut down the security while installing. It could cause problems while playing. 8.1 has more security than 8. Maybe that is why from my observation the game plays better on 8. Microsoft and EA are also working on the sims 4 together and this game is being made on windows 8.

and also another security issue with 8.1 is the new Internet Explorer has some pain in the %^&*()_ high tec security. This does interfear with the game . When I briefly had an 8.1 new computer ( I returned). Everytime I just entered the sims game IE would crash. The sims does not like the new IE security.

Thank you for your answers.

your welcome. The only other thing I can tell you is to uninstall manually, get everything off your registry, slow boot your computer, download the game while everything is turned off in the backround and see how the game plays.
the other thing you could do is system restore back to windows 8 but that would require a full system restore and discs from microsoft. There is no restore point on windows 8.1 to get back to windows 8. This was my whole problem on my HP computer. The restore ruined it.

I have a desktop. The problem also arose while i had my 660 Ti, and it played Island Paradise flawlessly for weeks before it stopped running it well. I have had my OS reloaded numerous times and my computer hardware extensively tested in the months i have had this problem.

No problem since you have a desktop. as I posted I was playing Island Paradise a while on an OK lap top. It worked for a while but as the saves got bigger and I played longer the stuttering occured so I just moved my sims out of IP. This EP has a lot of problems and is the biggest world. Have you uninsatalled and reinstalled and just left IP out of your computer? If it's just that EP that is giving you problems and may be causing problems for you in other worlds as well, I would just remove IP. You may have to do a manual uninstall to do a clean reinstall without IP. If you dont want to touch your registry by following instructions on the web (i wont) to do the manual uninstall you can call EA and they will walk you through manual uninstall. Sometimes files get left behind from uninstalling and reinstalling and stop the game from working properly

Yeah, I tried without it only up to University. The Uni world is literally the worst one for this,I can't even play in that world it's so bad. IP is actually one of the better worlds to play in. Sure it lags but the camera movments are smoother then aploosa plains and Midnight Falls. I have tried the clean uninstall like 5 times with no results. I found that the game will run way better when it's paused also.

crin wrote you back in your thread and may have help for you. I don't have uni maybe in general why I never had the problems your having. I was going to reinstall IP only because a saved game I have is using some things from that EP but I am playing roaring heights. Ill see what happens when I get the rest of this game in. I have to fix my microsoft issue first

@PaulJazz24 I just noticed you have the ASUS with 3D screen? I wonder if that could be causing you problems with the sims? My computer is 3D compatible but I dont have the 3D screen. My computer will however work on my 3D TV if I hook my computer up to my TV.
