Sims 2 installation problems

I got the Sims 2 game for Christmas with almost all of the expansion packs. I am running Windows 10. When I download my Sims 2 game, it works perfectly fine, but when I add an expansion pack/stuff pack, everything goes wrong. I tried installing the Kitchen and Bath interior design stuff pack, and after installation I was asked to reinsert my main Sims 2 disc, which I did, which would result in an error stating 'TS2UPDO.exe has stopped working.' After a lot of research and trying many different things out, I managed to get it installed by restarting my computer instead of inserting the Sims 2 disc. However, once I did this, now my game doesn't work. I can open it and the menu is perfectly fine, but if I try to enter create a family or click on a lot to play, it simply stays on the loading screen and will not load. I don't know if this is to do with my restarting of the laptop or something else. Every other discussion of this has suggested deleting custom content, however I have none and haven't done any sort of gameplay. I have also attempted to install Sims 2 patches but it results in an error. I have no idea what to do, and I feel awful as quite a lot of money was spent on this present. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Thank you. I have attempted installing and reinstalling multiple times.

Try running it in compatibility mode. If you right click on the icon, scroll down and click properties. You should be able to run it in older versions of windows. If that doesn't work, try running it in administrator mode. Also, you might see black boxes under your sims. If you do, turn off shadows. Happy simming!
