Same here I've had this problem since October when my Origin app forced me to download the EA app. It's so frustrating because EA customer service is absolutely no help. I even got a new computer recently and the same issue applies. EA broke the game.
@nicolegal Did you download fresh copies of your store items on the new computer, or did you try to reuse your existing downloads or the existing user folder from your old computer? The store content does need to be downloaded and installed again, but it should then work.
Please start with a clean user folder, as in, move the entire Sims 3 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, open the launcher to create a new folder, and download and install your store content into that folder a little at a time. You can move your saves and other data over later; for now, just let me know whether this works.
