Sims 3 64-bit & Metal via Origin Keeps Freezing MacOS Big Sur
Hi guys, I have Sims 3 64-bit and Metal which keeps crashing.
I'm able to load the game no problems, even spent an hour making new sims, but when it comes to game play my screen crashes after about 10-15mins. I can still here the game moving and hear the buttons making sounds when i click them (ie the pause/play button etc), but the screen's completely frozen.
I access the game on my Mac Pro (macOS Big Sur version 11.2.3) through Origin (Version 10.5.108.49699 - 770595) and I can't seem to download the game to desktop to make any changes that way. The game I originally bought was the 32bit one, I used a Lenovo Laptop (on which it worked but was super glitchy and slow) and on this I added the 32-bit compatible Late Night pack --and while my previous sims are deleted, the expansion pack has been automatically added to the 64 bit version Origin has automatically offered me for Mac.
I really wanna play the Late Night version but apparently that's what keeps my game crashing, what can I do?
Super confused and a bit aggravated, need an awesome techno wizz to come save me.
Thanks!
@AnniK110 Please try playing a new save in Sunset Valley with all the graphics options on low. Specifically, turn them all down to low, disable Advanced Rendering too, then quit to desktop before loading a new save. You can add your packs if you want except for Pets, which seems to cause a lot of issues on Macs with integrated graphics like yours.
If the game is stable on all low settings, you can start raising them one or two at a time, again doing so from the Main Menu and quitting to desktop before loading a save. Lighting and tree detail seem to cause the most issues, so it's best to leave these on low.
If you still get crashes, try playing again with nothing else running on your computer other than Origin and Sims 3, and with your computer completely offline. You can sign into Origin and put it in offline mode, then disable wifi before pressing Play.
