@KelliDever Yes, that's the relevant information. Does the household you're playing, or trying to play, have a pet? If so, please try a household that doesn't have a pet, just to see whether it makes a difference.
If not, please try playing on minimum settings, again just as a test.
Im having the same issue when I press play on the launcher it takes me back to origin with the message The Sims 3 quit unexpectedly.

Also I installed the game on HDD that I added to my laptop.
@anivazqueza Are you trying to play the 32-bit or the 64-bit version of Sims 3? Your laptop doesn't support the 64-bit version: it also requires Metal, which your laptop is too old to have.
I am having the same issue she is. I am on Mac OS High Sierra. I was able to play the game earlier this week. I wanted to download my expansion packs and I have had issues ever since.
