Sims 3 64-Bit won't download

Similar to the problem going on right now with the sims 4, I'm also having a lot of trouble downloading the Sims 3. Namely, I recently decided to download the Sims 3 onto a new computer; or, rather, get 64 bit and run through origin on a computer that previously had the sims three manually downloaded on it before. Unfortunately, however, Origin has decided to just stall out the downloading at the finalizing stage; whenever I try to actually play the game (because the download manager  says it's finished installing) it still says "install" where the play button should be. Everytime I open origin it just tries to download the game even though it's supposedly downloaded it at least five times by now. Please help!

    Hi i am having exactly the same issue as above. 

    I have downloaded Sims 3 64 bit, Sims 3 pets, late night. All of them are in my 'completed' tab, but when I press them it says 'install' and then starts 'finalising' again which never finishes, or it just gives up. No error code, just stops and then the install button appears again. 

    I am using 

    MacBook Air (11-inch, Early 2015)

    4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

     

    I would just settle for having the base game, but it wont even do that.

     

    So far, I have deleted and re-installed origin, used the origin reset tool twice, added latest origin patch, cleared the cache, and it has made no difference. 

     

    Any ideas?

    @bexyheath  What operating system does your Mac run?  The minimum requirement for 64-bit Sims 3 is High Sierra, and what you describe happens on older OSs even when the Mac itself can run the game.

    Version 10.11.6

    I assumed it would be fine as I have used Sims 4 through origin on it before fine with no issues, but recently logged back in to find sims 3 wouldnt finalise.
