Hi i am having exactly the same issue as above.
I have downloaded Sims 3 64 bit, Sims 3 pets, late night. All of them are in my 'completed' tab, but when I press them it says 'install' and then starts 'finalising' again which never finishes, or it just gives up. No error code, just stops and then the install button appears again.
I am using
MacBook Air (11-inch, Early 2015)
4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
I would just settle for having the base game, but it wont even do that.
So far, I have deleted and re-installed origin, used the origin reset tool twice, added latest origin patch, cleared the cache, and it has made no difference.
Any ideas?
@bexyheath What operating system does your Mac run? The minimum requirement for 64-bit Sims 3 is High Sierra, and what you describe happens on older OSs even when the Mac itself can run the game.

I assumed it would be fine as I have used Sims 4 through origin on it before fine with no issues, but recently logged back in to find sims 3 wouldnt finalise.
