Not sure if this has been created or added to the list of bugs for the sims 3 new mac version.
I tried to play some recorded home movies on the TV but it didn't work, it is pretty much just a still image of the video, nothing actually plays. I bought the most expensive video camera, TV and the home movie disk holder.
@JonJartinez It's not on the list of known issues, and I haven't seen any other reports of this either. That doesn't mean it isn't a problem, but perhaps it's not a popular-enough feature for anyone to have noticed and bothered to report it.
Just checking, but have you tried this using ultra graphics settings? I can check in my game as well, but I'll have to figure out how to use the feature first.
@puzzlezaddict -I play with the lowest graphic settings. I did try again with rising the graphics to the medium level settings to see if that fixed the issue, but it still wasn't working (still image of the initial "home movie" recording but not playing it at all on the sims TV).
I don't know which specific setting would even help with this specific issue. My sim can record home movies, that part seems to work find. But when I try to watch the discs is when the issue occurs.
I tried to google around to see if there was an in game solution to fix it without the use of mods but couldn't find anything.

serenasydney I don't know of a fix for this, and to be honest I don't remember another report of it happening. So maybe players don't notice or care, or this doesn't affect most of them.
I would still suggest trying ultra graphics settings, with Advanced Rendering on and off, just to see whether it helps you in particular. Change the settings at the Main Menu, then quit to desktop before loading a save, or else you can see some very strange graphical anomalies.
