i go onto my game and i have two sims in my household, the two icons on the left hand side dont have their faces in them and are just green, only the bottom icon is selected and when i try to select my other sim, it doesn't change between the two so im stuck using only one sim, but even that doesn't work because when i tell my available sim what to do, she doesn't do anything. i've looked online for answers but i can't find anything, all i can find are forums that say that people have had the same problem and that they have tried to conact EA about it but they weren't helpful. i deleted my sim household and made a new one it was fine up until i shut it all down, when i went back to play it today the same thing happened again so i would like to know how to fix this as so many people have had the same problem. thank you.

I know this is almost a year later, but I figured it out, and it's a quick fix. Go to edit town, and save a copy of your household with house(so you don't have to re-buy the house). Next, evict your family and bulldoze the house. Take the copy you made and put it in the previous house's place. And Boom! you're done. Hope this helps anyone else with the same issue.

Were those fresh Sims or did you reuse the ones from the corrupted game ? How long did you play until it happened again ? Are you using mods or custom content in your game ?

That was exactly what happened to me. I ended up deleting Nraas Overwatch and everything was fine again.

I'm currently having the same issue! It sucks so much cause I have a long legacy with my sim family ☹️. One question though, does evicting, bulldozing the house then moving them back in erase any friends or other relationships they had outside the family??

Yes - all of your friends disappear, but are the same within the household only. Bit annoying! I think this happened to me after moving a non-town sim into the house.

You are a hero. I was trying all types of things. The only negative is losing the family cemetery and family tree. I was able to cross my family with Egyptian locals and have a cemetery out there. This fixed my issue but I kinda lost some stuff.

@I-Yash If you still have a backup of your save, either one you made yourself or the automatic copy the game generates, you can try to fix this issue without losing your family tree. If you evict your sims in Edit Town but don't save them to the bin, then save the house alone, bulldoze the lot, replace the house, and move the family back in, all without leaving Edit Town, your sims will keep their jobs and relationships, although they'll lose their promised dreams and opportunities. Of course, this fix isn't quite as thorough as saving the sims to the bin and placing them in a new save, but you could always try it to see if it works.
In case you don't know, the game's backup can be found in your saves folder and will be labeled [your save name].sims3.backup. So if your main save is SunsetValley, the main save folder will be SunsetValley.sims3, and the backup will be SunsetValley.sims3.backup. If you delete the .backup extension and rename the save (i.e. SunsetValley1.sims3), it will be available to load at the Main Menu, along with your other saves. But, of course, this will only help you if the backup is from before you used this fix.
