Sims 3 Crashing

Hello, My sims game was running fine then after adding some cc it started crashing. I took everything out and my game continued to crash after the intro. I put nrass in and it did the same thing but eventually loaded up and start playing so I then tried adding one mod that I knew was up to date to see how everything would go. Well, the game crash again so I took it out leaving nrass mods only and now it is back to crashing after the intro. I also made sure to delete Cache files and after flipping through threads I did everything that was suggested as far as downloading and doing the DXSETUP and using lazydutchess launcher. I've already downloaded lazydutchess alder lake patch and matched gpu using this mod from nexusmods but nothing is working.

@FaithStreams  There are two NRaas mods that will crash the game on startup under certain circumstances.  One is the MasterController Progression add-on if the MC and StoryProgression base modules are not also present.  The other is Cupcake if the Store bakery set is not present.  In either case, the fix is to add the necessary content or remove the mod for now.

If the problem is neither of these mods, please let me know which mod you added back.  Please also download a fresh copy of MasterController, the base mod, from the NRaas site, and test that alone.  If the game still crashes, create or download a fresh copy of the Mods Framework, including a fresh Resource.cfg, and repeat the test with that.  You can download the Framework here:

  • @FaithStreams  Please go into Documents > Electronic Arts and either rename the Sims 3 folder or move it to the desktop.  (Both approaches have the same practical effect.)  Then try again to launch the game, and let me know whether you get far enough to start a new save.  Opening the launcher will create a new Sims 3 folder with no content, and please don't move over your saves or anything else yet.  The first step here is to see whether the game loads at all.

Additionally, with only 4 GB RAM and a very small page file, your computer isn't going to be capable of running much of anything alongside Sims 3.  So please restart your computer before you want to play, and open nothing at all, other than the EA App, not even a browser window.  Put the App in offline mode before pressing Play as well, to minimize its resource use.

@FaithStreams  Try copying your main save to the new Sims 3 folder.  Don't add anything else yet, with the only exception being that if the save takes place in a Store or custom world, you'll need to install that world.  Then see whether the save loads.

If your old save is fine, you can start transferring your other content to the new folder, in batches, testing along the way so you can identify any files or folders that reintroduce the problem.  Here's a description of everything in the user folder:

It's best to only transfer what you need to in order to preserve your user data, and to use the new files and folders the game has generated whenever possible.
